The Privy Council have endorsed the Single Membership Charter Motion.

The classes of Ordinary and Associate Members of The Royal British Legion have been abolished and such members are combined and are now known as 'Members' with equal membership rights.

All  'Members' and Life Members (which excludes Youth Members and Members of the Women's Section) are now entitled to vote and, if elected or appointed, to hold office or be a member of any Council or Committee, provided that their Branch subscription is no more than 3 months in arrears. Therefore, at Branch Annual General Meetings now being held, all  Members may vote and may be nominated for all Council , Officer or Committee posts at all levels. Members of the Women's Section and non-members  of the Legion may continue to be appointed to a Branch Welfare Committee and have the right to vote and hold office in that Committee.

Single Membership does not apply to Legion club membership, which is regulated by the specific registered rules of each Legion club
